The Year to Come...
The year to come... 2013 has been an amazing year for They Serve 2! For a very small, volunteer force we have been able to make a great impact on military families. With the partnership of a few key organizations and individuals, we gave military children around the states almost 2,000 backpacks filled with school supplies, over 8,000 women's health books to military spouses, and we sent out over 1,200 Christmas letters to kids with deployed parents this holiday season thanking them for their family’s service to our country. What do all of these things have in common and what is our purpose? Passion. Passion for the military family, the service member, the spouse, and the child. They ALL serve. Our passion is to make a difference in their lives. To touch them in a tangible way, and to speak to others about the challenges military families face. I am so proud to be a military spouse of over 21 years. I have raised two amazing daughters. We love what we do. We love serving. But service has its challenges. Sometimes it's just a lonely night or an empty seat at the dinner table. Sometimes it's a move at a time that our children do not want to be uprooted again. This is what tugs at my heart the most. Seeing our military children having to be the new kids again, unpack another room, learn the hallways of another school. We at They Serve 2 want to make a difference in these families' lives. We want to let them know that we appreciate all they do to support their service member. We understand what it's like to be in their shoes, and we are here to help them and to advocate for them. In 2014, we will have more letter drives. We will have spouse appreciation events. We will speak for those who don't have a chance to speak for themselves. We will meet the needs of our Nation's finest children whether it is with a school supply-filled backpack, a bed for them to sleep on when theirs hasn't made it from an overseas move, or a hug and a thank you. We also hope to publish a book to tell their stories...so the world knows who they are. Join us. Help us make a difference. Donate time, donate money, but most of all donate heart.
